Throughout the offseason, the Winnipeg Jets have been adding depth up front. They did the same today, and for the first time, they added someone who will likely play within the top six. Today the Jets traded prospect Danick Paquette and a 4th rounder to the Washington Capitals for local product Eric Fehr. The former two time 50 goal scorer for the Brandon Wheat King, has not found his stride with the Caps. In parts of 5 seasons in the NHL Fehr has a career high 21 goals.

New Jets coach Claude Noel will give Fehr each and every chance available. But it’s up to Fehr whether he stays a top six forward, and whether he can maintain his status as a regular NHLer. One more below average season, Fehr will become an NHLer who cannot get a one-way contract, or North American who plays in Europe.
