The Minnesota Wild take on the Winnipeg Jets tonight in Winnipeg for another match up that will likely intensify our rivalry with our American friends. This year in Minnesota, the Wild thought they were clever by having our anthem done half French so we couldn’t yell true north. Thankfully, our intelligence was not insulted and a true north prevailed.
In Winnipeg the only antics come from the media or a couple of players. Evander Kane was caught having a beer at the Toronto Raptors game the night before a win in Toronto and was a healthy scratch just before the game, read the story here. Ondrej Pavelec is the king of antics by now with his latest assist on a power play goal that had no effort involved from the Toronto side just an easy tap in.
Goaltender for the Wild Ilya Brysgalov is 5-0-3 since his trade from the Edmonton Oilers and the Wild are 3-0-1 in their last four. Minnesota can clinch a wild card spot tonight with a victory over the Jets. Even though Winnipeg won their last game, they are now officially eliminated from the playoffs. Watch Ilya's best sound clip, he's only afraid of bears.
For Winnipeg to win tonight’s game Ondrej Pavelec will have to be stellar but I’m not counting on a Winnipeg victory. I will be there and if Pavelec lets in any garbage goals, myself and 15,000 other Jets fans will be screaming for his head.
My final thoughts: Minnesota wins the game 3-1, no team wants to head into the post season losing and Minnesota is doing the opposite of losing right now.
Andrew Ladd is a scratch for Winnipeg, Evander Kane is back in the line up.
